Gregory Scott Brown, M.D. is a board-certified psychiatrist, writer, yogi, and founder and director of the Center for Green Psychiatry, an Austin-based outpatient wellness clinic. He is an affiliated faculty member at the University of Texas Dell Medical School, and a leading voice supporting an evidence-based approach to holistic mental health treatment.
Greg is a committed wellness advocate and stigma fighter who believes that normalizing conversations about mental health as well as sharing hope narratives can play a role in healing, both individually and collectively. Consistent with his commitment, Greg has spoken openly about his personal journey overcoming depression and the impact yoga, movement, spirituality, and purpose played in his own journey.
While in residency, Greg started and hosted a podcast called “This is Mental Health,” that featured conversation with unlikely advocates for mental wellness. His writing and commentary have been featured in academic journals and the popular press including: Austin Fit Magazine, Psychology Today, Medscape, Runner’s World, and The Today Show. He is a proud member of the American Psychiatric Association and he serves on the advisory board for Men’s Health Magazine, where he writes a monthly mental health column and co-hosts a mental health series on Instagram called Friday Sessions.
Greg lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife.
